Chillax with the whānau these holidays

The school holidays can provide the whole whānau with a great opportunity to reset and take a breather.

Here are some great ways to hang out with your tamariki, relax and have some fun:

Some great (and cheap/free) holiday ideas are listed here - they're all ideas from other Canterbury parents. Wahoo

Chillax with some wellbeing activities for the whole whānau. Who doesn’t like tamariki to be calm and restful? Tummy Breathing, Wellbeing Walkabouts and creating a Sensory Kete are fun and free activities whānau can do together. They’re also great strategies for coming down from big emotions like worries and being hyped up.

Speaking of which, don’t forget to look after you too! There are little things you can do each day, and we love The Five Ways To Wellbeing - let your children lead the way to

  1. Connect - have your mates around for a playdate
  2. Give - give your child's teacher a big thanks or up the amount of praise you give your kids
  3. Learn - learn how to finger knit with your kids, attempt some origami
  4. Notice - notice the world around you, from your whānau, to clouds, birds or the sun shining through a window
  5. Be Active - dance with your kids or run around on the lawn with them

All of this will help you (and your kids) feel good and hit the ground running next term.
